The first and only Croatian school for sailing and windsurfing recognized by the Ministry of Education and Sport of the Republic of Croatia (license number 532-04/2-00-03-01 of 21 January, 2000), has been professionally led by Prof. dr. Goran Oreb, head of the Water Sports Department at the School of Kinesiology at Zagreb University. Dr. Oreb also leads the advanced sailing study program for sports trainers. In addition, he continues to participate in sailing competitions following a distinguished career as a competitor and trainer of the national windsurfing team (1981-1986).

 

The School, established in 1996, offers professional instruction of the highest standard. Dr. Oreb, with his team mostly made up of kinesiologists (holders of university degrees as sailing instructors), drawing from many years of teaching experience, offer expert instruction to participants in a variety of courses at different levels, ranging from recreational sportsmen to students of kinesiology and active competitors.

 

Basic knowledge and expertise are acquired on the seven-meter cruisers (Scholtz 22 type). Children can also learn sailing on smaller Optimist class dinghies suited for beginners. Two and three-seater sailing boats (Laser2000 and LaserSTRATOS ) are optimal for training purposes, while Hobie Cat 16-type catamarans and Nacra 5.5 allow for a special sailing challenge. Twelve-to-15-meter sailing boats are used to teach basic and advanced sailing skills.

 

 

 

Oreb Club International operates primarily between May and October in its sailing center in the town of Korcula on the island of the same name. Other navigational sailing opportunities start from the Marina Betina on the island of Murter.
